Our Founder

OUR FOUNDER

Lala Ishwardas worked tirelessly and selflessly for the relief of those affected by the Great Famine of 1856. To facilitate the well being of pilgrims visiting the Kalkaji Temple during Navratras and other religious occasions, he constructed a well, pond, Bagichi and, Dalans where pilgrims could rest during their pilgrimage to the Kalkaji Temple.

Shri Banarsidas Chandiwala Sewa Smarak Trust Society was headed by Shri Devdas Gandhi, son of Mahatma Gandhi, in its infancy. After his demise, eminent personalities such as Dr Sushila Nayyar and others supported the Trust Society and helped it to grow further. The incumbent chairman of the Committee, Shri Autarx Krishna took charge of the Society in 1985. Since then, the Society has been carrying its good work under his able leadership

Shri Brijkrishan Chandiwala, founding member of the Trust Society, was its first Secretary and he presided over the daily affairs. The position of Secretary is an all-consuming responsibility. Shri Bhuwan Mohan has looked after this responsibility with great vigour and purpose since October 1979.Banarsidas Chandiwala Sewa Smarak Trust Society is a registered society under the Societies Registration Act and is located at Chandiwala Estate, in the green belt of Kalkaji, New Delhi.

The Society, presently runs a Multi-speciality Hospital, an Ayurvedic Health Centre, a Homeopathic Clinic, a Psychological Research Centre, a Health Centre, four educational institutes, a state-of-the-art sports centre, a Guest House and a Food Court. The Society is building an educational institute at Dwarka, New Delhi and many other projects are in pipeline.
